President Paudel Emphasizes Boosting Production and Protecting Workers’ Rights on Labour Day

President Ramchandra Paudel has underscored the importance of increasing production and productivity, while calling for greater respect for labour and enhanced social security.

In a message issued today on the occasion of International Workers’ Day, the President extended his best wishes to all Nepali workers at home and abroad, wishing them happiness, peace, and prosperity.

He expressed hope that the day would serve as a source of inspiration to promote the use of indigenous products, encourage self-employment, ensure fair wages, and strengthen social protection mechanisms.

Highlighting constitutional provisions, President Paudel noted that the right to employment and labour has been guaranteed for all citizens, while every worker is entitled to fair wages, benefits, and social security. He further emphasized the constitutionally mandated right to equality, stating that there must be no gender-based discrimination in wages and benefits for equal work.

“I believe the working class stands to benefit as Nepal advances toward a socialism-oriented economy rooted in democracy,” his message stated.

International Workers' Day, marked globally on May 1, commemorates the historic struggle of workers for professional dignity, rights, and social justice.
