Games on to subvert constitution in the name of amendment, Chairman Prachanda claims

Pushpa Kamal Dahal, commonly known as Prachanda, Chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre) and former Prime Minister, has expressed concerns over ongoing efforts to amend the constitution. Speaking at a mass assembly in Siraha district as part of his party's Tarai-Madhes Public Awakening Campaign, Prachanda warned that attempts to alter the constitution, achieved through significant public sacrifice, would be resisted.

He accused government members of trying to curtail citizens' rights under the guise of constitutional amendments and of promoting a two-party system. Prachanda reaffirmed his party's commitment to the Madhesi community, recalling the establishment of the Madhes people's government and the Madhesi National Liberation Front during the people's war to secure their rights.

Highlighting infrastructure contributions, he noted that the Postal Highway's development advanced during his tenure as Prime Minister through negotiations with India. Prachanda also pledged to work on improving road networks in Siraha district, including the Choharba-Siraha, Siraha-Kalyanpur-Mirchaya routes, and upgrading the Madar customs office.

The assembly featured remarks from CPN (Maoist Centre) leaders Matrika Prasad Yadav, Bishwanath Sah, Ajay Shankar Nayak, Jagat Prasad Yadav, and Nepal Samajwadi Party Chairman Mahendra Raya Yadav.
