At least 10 people lost their lives, and three others were injured on Monday after a building collapsed in Egypt's Giza Province, local media reported.

According to reports, the incident occurred in the Kerdasa area near the Giza Pyramids when an explosion rocked the second floor of a three-story building.

Emergency responders rushed the injured to nearby hospitals while civil protection forces extinguished the fire triggered by the blast. Authorities also evacuated two adjacent buildings as part of the cleanup operation.

Preliminary investigations suggest that a gas leak may have caused the explosion.
