President stresses on advancing investigation against corruption
President Ramchandra Paudel highlighted the need for modernizing anti-corruption procedures in response to evolving methods of corruption, particularly influenced by technology. At the 34th anniversary of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), he urged the CIAA to stay ahead of new corruption trends and emphasized the importance of aligning Nepal's laws with international anti-corruption standards.
The President called for full accountability, regardless of position, and stressed that eliminating corruption requires collective effort and commitment. He also urged vigilance against misuse of public resources and reinforced the CIAA’s role in promoting good governance.
CIAA Chief Commissioner Prem Kumar Rai outlined ongoing improvements in the Commission’s research and public service delivery efforts, noting inefficiencies in federal services and calling for reforms to ease citizens' access to services. He also urged collaboration across sectors to create a corruption-free society.
The event featured award ceremonies for outstanding CIAA personnel and recognition of media contributions to promoting good governance. The CIAA's 34th foundation day was marked by the slogan, "Citizen partnership to control corruption, responsibility of all in promoting good governance."
