Restoration of BP Highway Begins After September 2024 Landslides and Floods
Restoration work has officially commenced on various sections of the BP Highway, which were severely damaged by landslides and flooding caused by heavy rains in September 2024. The Department of Roads has taken the initiative to repair the roadway, starting from Bhakundebeshi to Nepalthok.
The Department of Roads has outlined a reconstruction plan targeting a 13-kilometre stretch, with 8.5 kilometres of it set to undergo complete reconstruction. Suman Yogesh, the Chief of the Bhaktapur-based Road Division Office, emphasized that the reconstruction of the BP Highway is a top priority for the Division. Additionally, plans are in place to continue maintenance work, including during night hours, to expedite the process.
On Saturday, Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Debendra Dahal, visited the site for a field inspection. During his visit, he assured the management of sufficient resources to ensure the smooth and efficient implementation of the ongoing reconstruction efforts.
