A massive wildfire broke out in the forest area of Dakshinkali Municipality on Tuesday evening, destroying over 30 hectares of forest, according to Mayor Mohan Basnet.

The fire, which started around 4 PM in the Bansbari area of Ward No. 4, has since spread to Wards 1, 3, and 4. Despite continuous efforts, authorities have been unable to fully contain the blaze.

"The fire is partially under control compared to the previous day, but burnt tree stubs still pose a risk of further spread," said Mayor Basnet.

Teams from the Municipal Police, Nepal Police, and local volunteers are actively working to douse the flames. Fortunately, the risk to human settlements remains low as a road separates residential areas from the burning forest.
