IPL 2025 Suspended as India-Pakistan Tensions Escalate; Army Thwarts Massive Drone Assault

New Delhi  The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has been suspended with immediate effect, the BCCI announced Friday, amid intensifying military conflict between India and Pakistan. The decision follows a security alert at the Dharamshala stadium during the Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals match on Thursday night, which was abruptly called off.

Spectators were evacuated, and both teams were taken to safety. The incident triggered nationwide concern, with fans chanting slogans against Pakistan outside the venue.

Military Operations Across Borders
Simultaneously, the Indian Army repelled multiple drone and missile attacks by Pakistan along the LoC and international border, including a major counter-operation in Lahore, where a Pakistani air defence system was reportedly destroyed.

Over 50 Pakistani drones were shot down during the assault, according to defence sources. The Akash air defence missile system, developed indigenously in India, played a crucial role in neutralising aerial threats. It is now actively deployed along vulnerable points across the border.

Akash Missile System: The Silent Protector
Defence officials said the Akash system allows real-time tracking and simultaneous targeting of multiple aerial threats. It has given Indian forces a significant edge during this critical time.

With cross-border hostility intensifying and national security taking precedence, sports and civilian activities are being scaled back, including the temporary halt of the country’s biggest sporting spectacle.
