BMW's Munich Plant to Become Fully Electric Vehicle Production Hub by 2027

BMW Group has announced plans to transform its Munich plant into a fully electric vehicle (EV) production facility by 2027, marking a significant shift in the automaker’s manufacturing strategy.

The plant is accelerating preparations for the production of BMW’s next-generation "Neue Klasse" EV models, which are scheduled to begin rolling off the assembly line in the summer of 2026.

With global EV demand expected to rise sharply by 2030, BMW has designated its Munich plant as the first in its network to undergo a full transition to electric vehicle production.

To support this transformation, the plant is currently constructing three new production halls, focusing on body manufacturing, final assembly, and production logistics, ensuring the seamless introduction of the "Neue Klasse" models.

According to Peter Weber, head of the Munich plant, the facility will implement optimized production processes and advanced automation technologies to reduce manufacturing costs and enhance overall efficiency.

BMW's move aligns with its broader strategy to expand EV production and solidify its position in the growing electric mobility sector.
