Over 1,400 Afghan Families Return from Iran and Pakistan Amid Ongoing Repatriation Efforts

Kabul – A total of 1,414 Afghan families, comprising 6,619 individuals, returned to Afghanistan from neighboring Iran and Pakistan on Sunday and Monday, the High Commission for Addressing Returnees' Problems reported on Tuesday.
The returnees entered the country through several major border crossings, including Torkham in Nangarhar province, Spin Boldak in Kandahar, Islam Qala in Herat, and the Abrisham border point in Nimroz province, according to the commission.
This wave of returnees is part of a broader repatriation trend, with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) reporting that nearly 120,000 Afghans have returned from Pakistan between April 1 and April 24 alone.
An estimated 7 million Afghan refugees—many of them undocumented—continue to live abroad, primarily in Iran and Pakistan.
The Afghan interim government has repeatedly called on its citizens living in exile to return home and contribute to the reconstruction of the conflict-affected nation.
